Mallory is Five

Mallory turned 5 years old today!  We celebrated on Sunday, however, since there is no school, work or soccer.  She got to open her gifts Sunday morning and play until it was time for church (1PM).  Jared made a yummy Cafe Rio style dinner, and we had some family and friends over. Mal had a great day!  Then today she got to go to school where they sang to her and Teacher Pat gave her a special treat.  I told her she could have whatever she wanted for lunch & she chose Burger King.  The girl is obsessed with fry sauce!  I thought it would be fun to take her to a movie, but Sophie was needing a nap.  So we had some one on one time playing with her new toys.  Then Grandma Linda brought by cake and gifts.  She was looking forward to that, kept asking all day when Grandma Linda was coming.  Jared decided we should do something fun on her bday, so we went to Sweet Tomatoes and then to her soccer game.  They lost, but that's ok!  She's starting to figure it out.

We love our Mallory!
She looks tired because she just woke up! Who doesn't want to wake up to presents?

Ready for church!

Real Salt Lake vs. Monterrey

Occasionally Jared gets tickets to sports games through work acquaintances and friends.  His "lawyer friend" (as I call him) had 4 tickets to a Real game and asked Jared to bring his wife along (lucky me!!!).  It just happened to be tickets to the final leg of the CONCACAF Championship. (CONCACAF stands for Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football)  If  Real won - they would be going onto the FIFA World Cup which is HUGE.  I was so excited for this game! We had awesome seats in a Ledge Box, with free dinner.  It was a lot of fun!

They had fish, shrimp, fried chicken, au gratin potatoes, green salad, pasta salad, pot stickers, fresh fruit....I could go on and on.  It was a lot of food and it was delicious.
Real players warming  up!

Sadly, Real lost 0-1.  I think we had some crap calls from the officials, and the goal that Monterrey got was just kinda lucky, it wasn't one of those awesome goals where you say, "That was a good shot"......bummer!  The owners of the Monterrey team were in a suite right above us, so that was interesting!  We had more shots on their goalie than they did on ours.  We had some really, really close ones that just barely missed.  Maybe if RSL's captain wasn't suspended for that game we could've won.  Who knows!
Still love the RSL!

Easter 2011

Our kids had spring break the whole week before Easter Sunday.  The weather was cold and rainy for all of it, plus my kids took turns being sick. Again.  This time it was fever & cough.  Started with Ashton, then went to Kelsey, Emma, Mal & Soph.  Don't know how Conner lucked out.  But it made for a long, boring spring break with kids wrapped up like burritos on the couch watching tv all day.  Poor Mal & Soph got it for Easter weekend.  They both had to miss church, and didn't care much for being outside hunting eggs or eating.  But it was a great Easter nonetheless!

Proof that she is walking! Finally!
So the Hibbert's got together Saturday at Flat Iron Mesa Park for lunch and an egg hunt.  I asked Mom to invite Jamie along too, since Jason is out of town (out of the country for that matter - China!), and she's basically a Hibbert anyway.

The kids played a lot of soccer

Chow time

Somehow Jared ended up at the playground with the three youngest: Lucy, Sophie & Will
Mal had a fever, so the chilly weather was extra chilly to her.

The kids all waiting for Neil & Grant to give them the green light!

Grandpa was nice enough to carry Mallory around and kept her all bundled up.  Thanks Dad!

Grandma labels the eggs with the kids names.  With such a large area to hide them, it took the kids a while!

Mikey is so stinking cute.
Ashton had one last egg that he was having a hard time finding.  That's because Uncle Grant had it in his pocket.  He kept telling Ashton "colder" and "warmer" as they walked around.  It was pretty funny to watch.

Ashton & Ethan have a picture like this from last year.  We missed the Wrides!

We colored our Easter eggs with the kids Saturday night.
We like to use Q-tips to add dots & designs to our eggs.

Looking for the eggs on Easter morning....

Sophie's face looks so silly!  She was excited to see her new toy (Brobee from Yo Gabba Gabba).  After I took this picture I showed it to the kids.  We all think she looked like someone from Dr. Seuss's Whoville!   =o)
Ashton & Conner got a couple new Tron toys.

Mallory has wanted a Lalaloopsy doll for a while.  They remind my other kids of the movie "Coraline", so they all think it's creepy.  And then they tell Mal that her doll is creepy and Mal get's upset.  Vicious cycle.

Over a month later.....

We've had a lot going on since I updated the blog last.  I've really only taken a few pics here and there with my phone.  The middle of March was full of sick kids.  A nasty stomach bug started with Conner, then went to Mallory, Sophie and Ashton.  It was UNPLEASANT.  Conner, Mal & Ash missed two days of school each.   It took almost 2 weeks to get it out of here.  Then Mal and Soph got bad coughs & runny noses, which for Soph turned into infections in both ears.  She had 2 really bad nights, the worst any of my kids have ever had.
Poor sick little Sophie.  We had to send a picture to Jared to show him how sad his little baby was. =o(

Soccer has begun!  Mallory plays on Monday nights, Ashton on Tuesday, Wednesday is practice for Emma, Ashton & Mallory, then Conner's games are on Thursday (with practice before on days with a 6:30 game), and Emma's games are on Saturday!  Did you get all that? There will be a quiz later ;o)   I love, love, love watching my kids play and yell from the sidelines.  I shouldn't have a favorite, but Ashton's are the best.  Conner & Mallory are still playing 4 vs 4, no goalie & just trying to figure out the rules.  Emma's games are awesome too, but I'm dying for her to get more aggressive & own the ball!  Ashton LOVES it and he is SO good!  Every season I have other parents & grandparents tell me how great a player he is, so fun to watch.  I've been told more than once to get him into competition soccer, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for "serious" soccer.  And I love his coach & team, they have been together for a long time.
Conner's team is Blue Lightning - He's #2 on the left
We moved Jared's office out of the house!  I thought it would be easy, but not so much.  His office is literally 2 minutes away, up at a property of his on 13th East.  He was running out of room here, and trying constantly to keep the kids quiet was not working.  It's been about a week since he's been "functional" up there, and I think he is getting a lot more done.  I'm up there every free minute I can be.  The "file room" of our house is now a toy room!  I always dreamed of a toy room when Kels, Emma & Ashton were little.  Now it will mostly be for Mallory and Sophie, though the cupboards are full of puzzles & board games for all the kids.
The new office - getting some much needed work done to it.
Good news: the office is close. Bad news: It's upstairs & there isn't an elevator.  Todd & I hauled everything onto the trailer then upto the office.

An empty room to do whatever I want?! Sweet!  It was so nice to be able to open the french doors ALL THE WAY.

I was able to empty most of Mallory & Sophie's toys into this room.  Their bedroom is just too small to hold all of it, plus a dresser, bed & crib.  The boys have their attic playroom anyway.  Mallory's table is a great place for a game of Monopoly.
Kelsey & Emma got contact lenses today!
