First day of 7th, 5th & 3rd grade

Kelsey is in 7th grade at Union Middle School.  She's so smart!  Good thing she has Jared to help her with any Algebra homework, because I am NO GOOD at math.

Emma is in 5th grade, and has the same teacher Kelsey had in 5th grade.  Mrs. Attridge is great!
Ashton is in 3rd, with Mrs. Cayias, who Emma had in 3rd grade.  Jared had Mrs. Cayias for 6th grade when he was at East Sandy.  Crazy that Jared & two of his kids have had the same teacher!

Perseid meteor shower

Thursday night we got a large group (Mom, Dad, Beka, Matt, Grant, Steph, Tiff & kids, etc.) together and met at Mom & Dad's to follow each other up to Little Mountain (by Little Dell Reservoir).  The Perseid meteor shower happens every August, but this year was supposed to be better because there was no moon, which won't happen again until 2013.  There were a lot of people up there!  We pulled to the side of the road & got out to watch. Dad brought his telescope, so we could see Jupiter & 3 of it's 4 moons, which was SO, so neat! It was a dot with 3 small dots by it, sounds not very exciting, but it's so cool.  By midnight my smaller kids were done, and so was Jared.  I could have stayed out all night.

We got in the car & were saying goodbye (just us & Tiff were leaving), when a Mayfly flew in the window.  It went to the back of the car where Mallory, Ashton & Conner were buckled in.  Mal was SCREAMING. Completely freaking out & screaming. It didn't help that Ashton & Conner kept screaming, making her even more terrified. Ashton just kept trying to kick it.  Finally it flew up to the front of the car & we got it out. We were all laughing, it was quite a show. I don't know where my kids get their fear of bugs!

Temple Square

We took the kids downtown to see the 88-inch tall replica of the Salt Lake Temple two times in July.  Jared took these pictures of our kids on the Temple steps.

MY KIDS!  I hope one day they will be taking their kids to the temple to take pictures!

Proof that sometimes Conner & Mal are NOT fighting

Don't worry, that's not some random girl in the photo.  That's Emma's friend Rylee.  They have been together more than they have been apart this summer I think!  I thought this pic was funny for 4 reasons: Rylee's closed eyes, Sophie's expression, Conner staring off into space, and Mallory's double-chin grin!

4th of July BBQ with the Hibberts!

So, this is more than a month late, but these pics were on Jared's computer, so I had to wait for access.  He's in Roosevelt for the day (again), so it's a great time to search thru his pictures.  He has SO many!  

The "Utah" Hibberts got together on the 4th (on a Sunday this year!) for a barbecue and fireworks.  We love having friends and family over, and Jared loves to have a group to cook for.  Thank you Dad for the pictures!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Miss Sophie

Sophie is spoiled and loved by all in this house.  She had her 6 month check-up recently.  She weighs 18LBS, and boy can you tell when you have to carry her around in her carseat!  She has many nicknames: Miss Sophie, Sophers, Sopher-loafer, Squishums, Mister Sophie (that one is by Mal).  

Look at those legs!  We call 'em "Funder Fighs!" in this house.  She's a squishy baby!

Kelsey turns 12

Kelsey is 12. Twelve!! Can you believe it? I have a kid in mutual, that's what seems crazy.  Her birthday was on a Thursday.  She wanted some new clothes (what a surprise!), plus she got some new books, sunglasses, perfume, etc.  One of her gifts was a trip to our favorite spa, Sego Lily, to get a pedicure with Denise & me.  We went to lunch after.  It was a lot of fun!  She's such a great kid, I mean young woman!

Jared made Kelsey an awesome chocolate cake, and then we did some fireworks.  That Saturday Kelsey went to the Draper Temple to do Baptisms for the dead.  She really had a great experience and was pretty excited & nervous to finally get to go into a temple.  We love you Kelsey!

Jared's Birthday Surprise!

Our neighbor and friend knew we were gone to Lagoon and decided to trash our yard! :o)

Jared turned 35 on June 16th.  Or did he turn 40?

Ain't that the truth! I'm always calling Jared old since he's 4 years older than me.

Mallory just woke up from the car ride home.  My kids thought it was pretty cool!

It was a nice surprise for Jared!  We really love the Bergman family, they are great friends....thanks guys!

See that light colored garage in the background? That's where the culprits live....Jared can hardly wait to get them back!  Also, notice the clouds?  That's why Lagoon wasn't crowded....and that also made us pick up the streamers pretty quick before the rain came!
