Ronan
I usually only blog about the happenings under my roof. I was on KSL today and came across this story. I decided to watch the video of Taylor Swift singing the song "Ronan" from the Stand up to Cancer" telethon. I had actually heard some of the song the night before on iTunes (it's #1), but dismissed it. I thought it was probably another break up song of hers, and I was just telling my girls the other day that I'm so sick of her always singing about break ups. Well this isn't that kinda song. Far from it. I read the story, and saw the picture of that beautiful, blue-eyed boy and listened to the words of her song and I was bawling. It's very touching. I need things like this to remind me to hug my kids a little longer. Listen more intently to the stories they want to tell me about their day. Don't sweat the small stuff. Take time to enjoy the "normal" days we have. Make sure my children know that they are so important to Jared & I. Sometimes I yell, sometimes I freak out about the messes, the homework that was left to the last minute, the wet towel left on the floor. In the big picture it's not important at all, it's just remembering to stand back and look at that big picture and put things into perspective that I need to work on. Becoming a mother is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I too bawled as I listened to that song and read the story. I am so thankful I have not had to endure such loss.
ReplyDeleteI looked at it from your post on FB and was bawling too. I've never been a huge follower of Taylor Swift, but this definitely gained her a lot of points in my book. Thanks for posting and the reminder to be a better mom.
