Waking up at 4AM shouldn't be anything different for someone with a baby, right? But Sophie has been sleeping through the night for at least 3 weeks now. She's down around 9 PM & doesn't wake up until 7. It's wonderful to know that when my head hits the pillow I get to SLEEP! So I wake up today to a commotion; Jared, Ashton, Conner & Mallory all seem to be talking at once. One phrase sticks out and jolts me awake....Ashton says, "Conner pooped in his bed." Just what you want to hear at 4AM, right? I get up, Conner is in the dining room walking with very stiff, straight legs. Every Mom knows that walk. I'm just hoping he hasn't left a trail. I'm thinking, 'Why is Mal up?', she's annoying Jared, who is awake but not really, saying that she wants cereal. He tells her to lay down. Conner & I head to the bathroom to peel his pj's off & put him in the shower. I tell Ashton to go back to bed. While Conner is in the shower I check the damage left in his bed....not too bad, just the fitted sheet (thank heaven we have a plastic sheet under that!). Ashton was already breathing heavily, though I think he was faking. I stripped the bed and got it ready for Conner to get back into it because we are NOT staying up. I get him back to bed, throw the bedding in the washer, and head back to my room & tell Mal it's not time to be up or time for cereal. She's OK with me putting her back to bed. Good thing! I'm back in bed by 4:30.
Jared asks about what happened when we are all fully conscious this morning, he doesn't remember much. And he thinks it's rude for me to post this here because Conner will be embarrassed. Oh well....it's the joys and privileges of being a Mom.
